Grading freshman papers is making me realize just how good most of the writers in most RPs I'm in actually are. Even the bad players write better than this. Augh.

So I managed to make a Red Lantern costume for under $20 and in a half an hour.

Have internet back for now; but the next time it restarts it might try to update to 9.0 again. Fuck my life. The worst part is how my computer basically has no protection since AVG stops updating its virus definitions for old versions, but at the same time I can't get online unless I have the old version. And the biggest irony is that the reason I can't get online is because CAA is trying to protect me.

I hate everything.

I upgraded AVG last night, forgetting that my school boots you off the internet if you have new software. Thus I might be without internets for the foreseeable future, which is just dandy seeing as how I NEED THEM FOR GRE PRACTICE EXAMINATIONS AND SCHOOL.

So I finally played Braid. It's one of those games that frustrates the hell out of me, because I'm not all that great at platformers, and yet the underlying implications of what's going on are so damn juicy and so well expressed through the relation of the narrative to the design. We already know that I am somewhat obsessed with postmodernism and metafiction, and if you take that and give it gorgeous, impressionistic art and innovative, unique gameplay, well, I'm sold.

The problem being, of course, that some of the puzzles are of the variety that send me into loud swearing fits, that I would not have been able to finish the game if my friend Mike hadn't been sitting behind me offering gentle hints and the occasional "This puzzle is a bitch; do you want me to help?" moments.

I googled the alternate ending, and that only makes it more "lolwhat?"

Still. Ultimately gotta recommend it. So pretty, and so... wtf-y. The soundtrack is also just. Something else.

Heeeee, Alba sent me some Blackest Night. It's really fucking fabulous thus far. Even if I am miffed at certain writers for being all OMFG TEH HAL and ignoring certain other lanterns *clings to guy and kyle* I can forgive them given that the writing and the mythology here is just so goddamn awesome.

And my brain, being what it is, instantly scrolls through my roster of characters going WELL WHAT COLOR LANTERN ARE YOU?! And all I can think is that Shattered Glass Starscream would be an adorable Blue Lantern. Hell, so would Jetfire/Skyfire, and in a pretty refreshing way. Jet'd be the one atheist Blue who's all "Damn it Saint Walker, shut up about God! You can hope things without God! AFdfahdshf"

and god Rampage would be a terrifying Red. Raeeeeeeg.
